20 Years Fighting for Us

For over 20 years, Kermit Williams has been a dedicated servant leader in the Pontiac community—governing with integrity, vision, and heart. A lifelong advocate for equity and opportunity, Kermit is running for mayor to lead Pontiac toward a future where every resident is seen, heard, and empowered to thrive.

Proven Leadership That Delivers

Kermit is no stranger to taking on tough challenges and delivering real results. As a three-term City Council member and former Council President, he helped shape key policies that improved the quality of life for Pontiac residents.

One of his most impactful achievements was helping resolve the long-standing Phoenix Center lawsuit, ultimately saving millions in taxpayer dollars and protecting vital community resources.

Champion for Equity and Opportunity

As Co-Executive Director of Oakland Forward, Kermit has led countywide efforts to remove barriers that prevent people—especially communities of color—from accessing good jobs, quality education, and economic mobility. His work bridges the gap between policy and people, always focused on what matters most: results that uplift.

A Voice for Our Youth

Kermit understands that investing in young people is investing in our future. He led the charge for the youth recreation millage, restoring long-lost programs and safe spaces for Pontiac’s youth after more than a decade of neglect. Today, he continues this commitment through his role on the Pontiac Youth Assistance Board.

Guided by Faith and Compassion

Service is more than a role—it’s a calling. Kermit serves as an elder at New Mount Moriah International Church, where he leads with moral clarity and humility. He also sits on the board of End Gun Violence Michigan, advocating for safer communities grounded in justice and care.
